The Bull at Blackmore End is a beautiful grade II listed building which dates right back to the fifteenth century.
Historic records show that drinks have been served there since 1851, when Thomas Smee became the first man licensed to sell alcoholic drinks from these premises.
Since that time the Bull at Blackmore End has passed through many hands, with each developing the pub’s fabulous reputation and ensuring it remains an integral part of the small Essex village of Blackmore End.
However, although still the heart of the community the owners sadly shut The Bull in 2010 and its future was under threat from development plans. The village however had other ideas and a local compaign to save The Bull was soon underway.
Having closed in 2010, a campaign by the local community saw The Bull at Blackmore End being brought to life once again.
An extensive, sympathetic, detailed renovation programme has dramatically transformed the building both inside and out and must be seen to be believed.
Every effort has been made to restore the charm and character of this traditional country pub, whilst also ensuring that it is both elegant and inviting to customers old and new.
The Bull at Blackmore End is now a truly stunning backdrop for people to dine on quality, traditional pub food, or to simply enjoy a drink with friends. With all our ingredients locally sourced and every single meal cooked from scratch by our highly qualified chef, we know our customers won’t be disappointed.
As the new owners we had a dream to create a family orientated, welcoming country pub with a difference.
We wanted to offer reasonably priced, traditional meals with a gastro edge; meaning mouth-watering, generous portions of the food we all love to eat.
We wanted every element of the pub, from the glasses to the cutlery, to be superior. We wanted to create a pub and restaurant which once again became an integral part of the local community, and with an atmosphere which means that everyone feels welcome.
We believe that we have achieved all of this and much more. Please do come and visit us to see for yourself - you will be warmly welcomed.
